Simon Wolfe is a Professor of Banking and Finance at the Southampton Business School, University of Southampton. He serves as Director of the Centre for Digital Finance (CDF) and the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) Programme. His roles include Associate Editor of the European Journal of Finance (since 2011), membership of the International Scientific Advisory Board at ISCTE Business School Research Centre, and external examiner roles at Bangor University and the University of Hong Kong. He holds additional affiliations with the London Institute of Banking and Finance and the British Council. Education: PhD (Finance, University of Southampton, 1997), MSc (Quantitative Techniques in International Financial Economics, Southampton, 1991), and BA (Maths and Economics, University College Dublin, 1989). Prior to academia, he worked in industry before joining Southampton Business School in 1994. Research focuses on financial regulations, financial stability, depositor protection, and cryptocurrency. Current projects examine how bank market structures impact SME financing. He supervises three DBA students (e.g., on AI market conduct risk, leadership) and three PhD students (e.g., greenwashing, bank-fintech dynamics, cryptocurrency). Teaching includes modules such as Corporate Finance, Equity Markets, and International Banking, across undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His external roles emphasize regulatory advisory work and academic governance.
