Dr. Szymon Winczewski is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Nanotechnology and Materials Engineering, Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics, Gdańsk University of Technology. His research spans computational materials science and nanotechnology, focusing on molecular dynamics simulations and structural stability of carbon allotropes. Education: PhD in Physics, Gdańsk University of Technology (2015). His research interests include auxetic materials, thin film deposition, and defect analysis in solids. He employs molecular statics, Monte Carlo methods, and DFT to study phenomena like negative Poisson's ratios, oxygen vacancy transport, and gas-phase film growth. Recent work highlights the instability of C38 penta-fullerene and the development of hybrid MD-tfMC algorithms for thin film simulations. His projects include ExCat (SONATA_BIS grant) and Triple Conducting Oxides (OPUS grant). Grants: SONATA_BIS: Tailoring multicomponent nanometric alloys for SOFC anodes. OPUS: Investigation of triple conducting oxides. His workspace is located in Gmach Główny, Room 106, and he can be reached at szywincz@pg.edu.pl.
