Yuchen Chen is an Assistant Professor of Communication Studies at Baruch College, City University of New York (CUNY), affiliated with the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences. She also serves as Faculty Affiliate for the China at CUNY Initiative. Her research specializes in digital cultures and contemporary China through interdisciplinary lenses of science/technology studies, digital studies, and China studies. Her core research explores two interconnected themes: China's data-driven governance infrastructures and its global digital platform expansion. Recent investigations include algorithmic management during COVID-19, social credit systems, and the geopolitical dimensions of Chinese tech platforms. Methodologically, she employs ethnographic approaches to examine sociotechnical systems.
