Dr. Anmin Liu is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Human Movement and Rehabilitation within the School of Health & Society at the University of Salford. He has been a member of academic research staff in biomechanical engineering since joining the university in 2003, following his PhD research on walking mechanics of humans and legged robots at Salford. Dr. Liu's research primarily focuses on human biomechanics with special emphasis on: Foot and ankle biomechanics (his primary focus since beginning research at the Centre) Clinical gait analysis services for individuals with lower limb deformities Development of multi-segment foot and ankle models Quantified assessment of biomechanical effects of orthotic and prosthetic devices Management of lower limb injuries, deformities, and knee/hip osteoarthritis Optimization of data collection, biomechanical modeling, treatment, and assessment methods His recent publications (2020-2025) demonstrate consistent output across multiple high-impact journals, with research spanning knee osteoarthritis biomechanics, foot orthotics, gait analysis, prosthetics, and load carriage biomechanics. His work frequently involves collaboration with other researchers at the University of Salford and beyond. Dr. Liu's scientific contributions include: Development of advanced walking simulators for human foot biomechanics Research on knee biomechanics and injury prevention Studies on the effectiveness of various interventions for knee osteoarthritis Analysis of foot orthosis geometry effects on lower limb biomechanics Investigations into load carriage performance for military applications As an active supervisor, Dr. Liu currently serves as Second Supervisor for an MRes student in Biomechanics and Human Movement (2023-2025) and has supervised numerous PhD and MSc students throughout his career. He continues to be a key contributor to the Centre for Human Movement and Rehabilitation's research program, particularly in knee biomechanics and lower limb rehabilitation.
