Jiří Zounek is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Educational Sciences, Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. He has been actively contributing to educational sciences for over two decades, with expertise in educational history, digital technologies in education, and post-socialist educational transformation. His academic leadership includes serving as Deputy Head of Institute (2014-2021) and Secretary of the Institute (until 2014). His academic journey reflects a deep commitment to understanding educational systems both historically and in contemporary contexts, particularly through the lens of technological and political change. Zounek's research focuses on the intersection of digital technologies and education, with significant contributions to understanding adolescent interactions with digital tools. His recent publications, including Life and Learning of Digital Teens (2022) and (Post)Socialist Transformation of Primary Schools (2024), demonstrate his interdisciplinary approach connecting historical educational research with contemporary issues in educational technology. His work often employs qualitative methodologies, particularly oral history approaches to document educational changes during the post-socialist transformation period.
