Ivan Miroshnikov serves as a Docent (Associate Professor) in the Faculty of Theology at the University of Helsinki, specializing in Biblical Studies with a focus on Coptic literature and early Christian texts. His research bridges theological inquiry and philological analysis of ancient manuscripts. His research interests center on Coptic Studies , particularly Sahidic, Bohairic, and Fayyumic dialects, examining textual fluidity in apocryphal works and the intersection of Platonism with early Christian thought. He investigates manuscript transmission, linguistic evolution in biblical texts, and the reception history of hagiographic traditions like the Martyrdom of George. His publication trends reveal deep engagement with Coptic manuscript analysis (2018-2024), including paleographic studies of Bohairic Bible versions and critical editions of fragmentary texts. Recent work emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches combining textual criticism, philosophy, and cultural history. Miroshnikov actively participates in academic collaboration through major research projects. As a key contributor to the Academy of Finland-funded Centre of Excellence in Reason and Religious Recognition Research (2014-2019) and The Publication of the Coptic Manuscripts of the Ilves Collection (2016-2020), he demonstrates sustained involvement in team-based scholarship. His scholarly activities include organizing international seminars on Bohairic manuscripts, presenting at major conferences, and developing educational resources for Coptic language study. Current work focuses on expanding critical editions of Coptic biblical and apocryphal texts while analyzing philosophical influences on early Christian literature.
