Her educational background includes a Ph.D. (2006), Master of Library and Information Science (1992), and Degree in Librianship (1990) - all from the Royal School of Library and Information Science, Denmark. Hyldegård's research centers on human information behavior across various contexts, with particular focus on information seeking, avoidance, and engagement during life transitions. She leads the international research group on Information Behavior and Practice in Everyday Life Transitions (2020-) with colleagues Pamela McKenzie, Alison Hicks, Ian Ruthven, Jenny Bronstein, and Gunilla Widén. Analysis of her recent publications (2023-2025) reveals three distinct research trajectories: theoretical development in information behavior models, empirical studies on information practices during life transitions, and pedagogical innovations in value creation across disciplines. Her work increasingly integrates interdisciplinary perspectives while maintaining strong connections to Library and Information Science foundations. 1994 Awards for Excellence - Outstanding paper in New Library World Hyldegård actively supervises students, emphasizing collaborative approaches as outlined in her supervision letter. She has secured funding for multiple research projects including Value Across (2020-2023) on entrepreneurial teaching and Innovation and Entrepreneurship across Universities (2020-2021), which developed a 10ECTS course for teachers at the University of Copenhagen and University of Southern Denmark. Her current research collaborations span Denmark, Norway, and international partners across North America and Europe. She is a key member of the Information Science & Technologies (IS&T) research group and leads several academic networks including UNIEN (University Network for Innovation and Entrepreneurship) since 2024.
