Georg Seifert is a Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Plant Biotechnology and Cell Biology , University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU) . His research focuses on plant cell wall biosynthesis, glycosylation pathways, and interactions between plants and nematodes, with a particular emphasis on fasciclin-like arabinogalactan proteins (AGPs) and their role in root growth regulation. Seifert's work explores how nucleotide sugars contribute to cell wall formation and how post-translational modifications affect plant protein secretion. His projects, primarily funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) , investigate UDP-glucose 4-epimerase regulation, AGP-mediated signaling, and plant stress responses. His publications highlight collaborations with international researchers and demonstrate trends in plant glycobiology, nematode pathogenesis, and cell wall integrity mechanisms. Notable contributions include studies on FLA4 domain functionality, azelaic acid-induced proteins, and pectin dynamics in seed coats. Georg Seifert has supervised numerous PhD and master's theses, including works by Irene Pasini , L. Wohlschlager , and H. Xue . He serves as a reviewer for prestigious journals like Plant Cell , New Phytologist , and Molecular Plant-Microbe Interactions , and evaluates grants for agencies such as the European Research Council and US National Science Foundation .
