Dr. Stoyan Ilev serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts, St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Turnovo. He holds a PhD and has established himself as a dedicated academic in the field of visual studies with a focus on contemporary painting practices and their relationship with digital media. Dr. Ilev's scholarly work centers on: Contemporary visual culture and its evolution Media and visualization of cultural phenomena Intermediality in artistic expression Digital transformation of traditional painting techniques Historical and contemporary relationships between painting and other visual media His research demonstrates a clear trajectory from examining traditional painting-photography relationships to investigating digital era impacts on visual arts. Dr. Ilev's work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical artistic exploration, particularly focusing on how visual culture transforms through media evolution. His publications reveal consistent scholarly output from 2015-2019 addressing the integration of new media within painting traditions. Dr. Ilev actively contributes to significant research initiatives including: "Media and Visualization of Culture" (2022-2025) "Contemporary Art.
