Iris Behrmann is a Full Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Luxembourg's Department of Life Sciences and Medicine. Her research focuses on cytokine signaling pathways in cancer and liver diseases, with particular expertise in JAK-STAT signaling, melanoma metabolism, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Her laboratory investigates molecular mechanisms underlying cancer progression, including ferroptosis susceptibility in melanoma, metabolic rewiring in drug-resistant tumors, and extracellular vesicle-mediated communication in hypoxic microenvironments. Recent work explores miRNA regulation of inflammatory pathways and genetic risk factors in chronic liver diseases. Behrmann's publications demonstrate extensive work on therapeutic targeting of metabolic vulnerabilities in cancer, cytokine-mediated transcriptional regulation, and the development of antibody-based interventions. Her research integrates biochemical, molecular, and omics approaches to identify novel therapeutic targets.
