Yejia Zhang, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, and a Staff Physician at the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA. She specializes in non-operative spine care, acupuncture for chronic pain, and wheelchair assessment, with a focus on molecular mechanisms underlying intervertebral disc degeneration and regeneration. Dr. Zhang received her MD from the Second Military Medical University in China (1989) and PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Pennsylvania (1997). Her research bridges clinical and molecular approaches to spinal health, integrating gene expression profiling and therapeutic interventions.
