Vivian Chenxue Lu is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Rice University, affiliated with the Center for African & African American Studies. Her research focuses on the cultural politics of profit, ethnonationalism, and transnational migration, particularly examining Nigerian businessmen's global networks and their socio-economic impacts in Nigeria. She previously held positions at Fordham University and Yale University, and conducted fieldwork at the University of Lagos. Her work is supported by the National Science Foundation, Wenner-Gren Foundation, and ACLS. She currently serves as program co-chair for the Association for Africanist Anthropology.
