Henrique Miguel Martiniano Vazão de Almeida is a Bioengineer and Materials Engineer affiliated with CENIMAT|i3N at NOVA University Lisbon (Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of Materials Engineering). He completed his bachelor's and master's degrees in Materials Engineering at NOVA University Lisbon (2007) and earned his PhD in Bioengineering from Trinity College Dublin (supervised by Daniel J. Kelly and Fergal O'Brien). His career includes industry experience in biomaterials, postdoctoral work at the University of Coimbra's biomaterials lab (2016-2018), and current research at CENIMAT|i3N (since 2022) supported by FCT CEEC funding (2021). Education: BSc/MSc in Materials Engineering (NOVA University Lisbon, 2007), PhD in Bioengineering (Trinity College Dublin) Henrique specializes in naturally occurring biomaterials for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. His work focuses on leveraging biomaterials' topography, conductivity, and mechanical properties to regenerate cardiac tissue and develop in vitro models. Recent projects include conductive biomaterials for cardiac tissue engineering and point-of-care devices for disease management. His 15 most recent publications (2016-2021) emphasize 3D printing, extracellular matrix functionalization, and injectable hydrogels for cartilage and cardiac tissue regeneration, spanning interdisciplinary fields like Bioengineering, Materials Science, and Biotechnology.
