Dr. Michael P. Schlaile is an interdisciplinary scientist at the University of Hohenheim, affiliated with the Chair of Innovation Economics. His research focuses on complexity & evolution, innovation & transformation, and sustainability & responsibility. He holds a Dr. oec. (summa cum laude) from the University of Hohenheim (2021) and has held roles including Principal Investigator (since 2025), Postdoc in the BioKum junior research group (2021–2023), and scientific assistant (2012–2023). His work bridges evolutionary economics, memetics, and sustainability science, exploring cultural evolution in economic systems, responsible innovation frameworks, and bioeconomic transitions. He has authored/co-authored over 30 peer-reviewed articles, edited books, and chapters, including a monograph on Memetics and Evolutionary Economics (Springer, 2021). His teaching spans innovation economics, sustainability, and consumer ethics at both bachelor and master levels. Dr. Schlaile’s research emphasizes the normative dimensions of innovation systems and their role in addressing global crises like pandemics and climate change. He is a Prosocial Facilitator and co-founder of the BE CHANGE community for systemic change education. Key achievements include developing frameworks for crisis-driven innovation and advancing memetic theory applications in organizational culture analysis.
