Morteza Haghighat Sefat is an Associate Professor at the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society and the Institute for GeoEnergy Engineering at Heriot-Watt University. His research focuses on well decommissioning, advanced well completion technologies, intelligent well design, and integrated asset modeling with a particular emphasis on CO2 storage integrity and optimization under uncertainty. He teaches Drilling Engineering and Integrated Asset Modelling. His research outputs span topics such as risk-based well integrity assessment for CO2 storage, flow control device optimization in multilateral wells, and methane emissions from decommissioned petroleum wells in British Columbia.
