Emanuele Giovannetti is Professor of Economics at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), School of Economics, Finance and Law, Faculty of Business and Law. He is also a Governing Body Fellow at Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge, and serves as Vice-Rapporteur for the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Study Group 1 on ICT cost modeling and economic policy. He has held academic positions at the University of Cambridge, University of Rome, University of Cape Town, and others. He investigates market power on the internet, mobile internet access, ICT platforms, digital divide, and regional asymmetries. His work integrates economic theory, empirical analysis, and policy evaluation, often using novel datasets from developing countries. Publication Trends: His recent publications (2022–2024) reflect a strong focus on digital transformation across sectors—energy, agriculture, and finance. Key themes include platform competition, data portability, gender dynamics in crowdfunding, and the role of network externalities in mobile social networking. His work increasingly bridges economics with data science and sustainability, emphasizing regulatory trade-offs and green transitions. Labs and Teams: He leads interdisciplinary research teams on digital economy projects. He was project lead for the EU FP6 CoCombine project on broadband competition and currently collaborates with Copenhagen Business School, ITU, and UK Data Services. He is Associate Editor of Eurasian Business Review and member of the Secure Access Community of Trusted Researchers.
