Mark Tan Kiak Min is Associate Professor (Medical Ethics) at the Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Monash University Malaysia. He is a certified Healthcare Ethics Consultant (HEC-C) and a leading figure in clinical ethics in Malaysia, with significant roles in the National Bioethics Council, the Malaysian Medical Council, and the WHO Expert Working Group on Clinical Ethics Guidelines. His academic qualifications include: Doctorate in Bioethics (DBe), Loyola University Chicago (dual concentration: Clinical Ethics, Public Health & Systems Ethics) MA in Bioethics & Medical Law, St Mary's University, UK MB BCh BAO in Medicine, National University of Ireland BMedSc(Hons) in Medical Education, National University of Ireland His research centers on clinical ethics, medical decision-making, end-of-life care, mental capacity, transplant ethics, and digital health ethics. He has contributed extensively to ethics education and policy development in Malaysia, advocating for legislative reforms in advance care planning and strengthening hospital ethics committees. His recent publications reveal a consistent focus on ethical challenges in healthcare systems, particularly in pandemic response, digital health integration, and cross-cultural ethical decision-making. The works span journals in bioethics, palliative care, and clinical medicine, reflecting interdisciplinary engagement and practical impact. His scientific awards include: Best Abstract Award, 13th Annual International Conference on Clinical Ethics Consultation (2017) Best Article Award, Berita MMA (2018) Best Poster Award, 14th Annual International Conference on Clinical Ethics Consultation (2018) 2nd Runner-up, Poster Competition, Medico-Legal Society of Malaysia (2019) Anugerah Pencapaian Terbaik Projek Inisiatif Strategik 2019 (Infinite Digital Learning) Mark Tan actively supervises PhD students and is involved in national and international mentoring, workshops, and public lectures. He has led numerous initiatives to build clinical ethics capacity in Malaysia, including co-founding the Malaysian Bioethics Community and Clinical Ethics Malaysia. His external roles include Vice-President (Medical) of the Medico-Legal Society of Malaysia and Chair of the Ethics Committee of the Malaysian Medical Association. He also contributes to editorial boards of Asian Bioethics Review and The New Bioethics . He is affiliated with key research and policy networks, including the WHO and national ethics councils, and leads efforts in ethics education, mediation, and public outreach. His work supports UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in education and health.
