Dr. Amarachukwu Nwosu is a Senior Clinical Lecturer in Palliative Care at Lancaster Medical School, with a dual appointment as Honorary Consultant in Palliative Care at the Royal Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. She serves as Research Lead for Marie Curie Hospice Liverpool and is affiliated with the International Observatory on End-of-Life Care at Lancaster University. Her academic work bridges clinical practice and research innovation, particularly in digital health applications for palliative care. Her research focuses on digital health innovations in palliative and end-of-life care, with special expertise in artificial intelligence applications, videoconferencing for emotional support, and non-invasive monitoring technologies. Her work has examined bioelectrical impedance analysis for hydration assessment in advanced cancer and explored the potential of emerging technologies like the metaverse in bereavement care. She has developed frameworks for digital palliative care bereavement services and investigated how technology can enhance patient-provider communication in end-of-life settings. Her recent publications (2021-2025) demonstrate a clear trajectory toward integrating digital solutions into palliative care, with increasing emphasis on artificial intelligence applications. These works span clinical studies, systematic reviews, and implementation research, reflecting both theoretical and practical contributions to the field. Her grant portfolio includes collaborations with the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and Marie Curie, focusing on building regional research networks in Northwest England. She co-leads the Special Interest Forum in Technology and Digital Innovation in palliative care with the Association for Palliative Medicine of Great Britain and Ireland, creating multi-professional networks to harness digital opportunities. Her work bridges Lancaster University, Marie Curie UK, NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group, and international partners through her Churchill Fellowship connections.
