Sriram Malladi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering-Engineering Mechanics at Michigan Technological University. Previously, he served as Research Faculty at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) from 2016 to 2019 and as Research Director at GAiTE LLC (June 2016–June 2017). He holds a Ph.D. (2016), M.S. (2013), and B.Tech. (2011) in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech, Virginia Tech, and Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad, respectively. His research focuses on vibration control, meta-structures, traveling waves in finite structures, structural health monitoring, and smart materials. Notable achievements include developing self-sensing shape memory alloys and bio-inspired artificial hair cells. He has received awards such as the ASME Virginia Tech Memorial Scholarship (2014) and multiple best paper awards at ASME conferences. His work spans theoretical, computational, and experimental domains, with contributions to hydraulic systems, acoustic meta-structures, and energy-efficient heat sinks. His VITALS Group at Michigan Tech explores advanced vibration-based technologies for smart infrastructure and robotics.
