Georg Menz is an Associate Professor in the Mathematics Department at the University of California, Los Angeles. His research spans multiple areas of mathematical probability and its applications to physical systems. He maintains an active research program with recent publications in leading mathematical journals and preprint servers. Dr. Menz's research interests focus on the intersection of probability theory, analysis, and mathematical physics. His work particularly emphasizes probability , stochastic analysis , partial differential equations , optimal transport , and statistical mechanics . He investigates fundamental questions about convergence rates in probabilistic systems, limit shapes in discrete models, and hydrodynamic behavior of particle systems. His recent publications reveal a strong trend toward quantitative analysis of probabilistic phenomena, moving beyond qualitative results to establish precise rates of convergence and error bounds. This work bridges pure mathematics with applications in statistical physics, particularly in understanding how microscopic particle interactions lead to macroscopic phenomena. Dr. Menz has advised graduate students including Younghak Kwon and has collaborated with researchers such as Martin Tassy (now at Dartmouth) and Felix Otto. He has organized academic conferences, including a 2019 event honoring Thomas Liggett's contributions to probability theory.
