Alenka Kavčič is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Computer and Information Science, University of Ljubljana, and a core member of the Laboratory for Computer Graphics and Multimedia. Her work integrates multimedia technologies, human-computer interaction, and computer graphics with applications in education, cultural heritage, and biodiversity monitoring. Her research spans Educational Technology , Multimedia Systems , and Human-Computer Interaction , with emphasis on self-regulated learning in digital environments, music information retrieval for ethnomusicology, and accessibility solutions for the visually impaired. She investigates agile development methodologies in educational software and vibrational communication in ecological contexts. Recent publications (2022-2004) reveal consistent focus on adaptive educational technologies, including self-regulation scaffolding, hypertext-based science learning, and fuzzy logic for user modeling. Her work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical applications in e-learning standards and engineering education. Dr. Kavčič has secured diverse research funding: National ARRS projects: MULTI-MON (biodiversity monitoring, 2023-2026), Vibroscape (vibrational communication, 2021-2024), J5-9437 (self-regulated e-learning), and J7-9426 (computational folklore) European projects: MiCREATE (migrant children, 2019-2021), CREA (entrepreneurship, 2015-2017), ASPECT (educational standards, 2008-2011) Structural Funds projects: ZaznajSpoznaj (accessibility for visually impaired, 2014-2015), NA-MA POTI (science literacy, 2016-2022), eEksperimenti (natural sciences teaching, 2015) As part of the Laboratory for Computer Graphics and Multimedia, she contributes to R&D in audio processing, VR/AR applications, medical imaging, and open data visualization, developing cross-platform software solutions for desktop, mobile, and cloud environments.
