Dr. Yessica Gomez serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) College of Pharmacy . As the first teaching faculty member in her department, she directs the first-year Respiratory Theme integrated core course and acts as department liaison to the PharmD program. Her research focuses on protein-membrane interactions , RNA folding dynamics , and computational biophysics , bridging experimental data with theoretical modeling. PhD in Biophysics (UCSF, 2023) BS in Biochemistry and BA in Physics (California State University Long Beach, 2016) Her work employs Molecular Dynamics Simulations and Monte Carlo Methods to study complex biological systems, particularly focusing on membrane protein insertion and neurodegenerative disease mechanisms . Through collaborative research with teams across multiple departments including Biochemistry and Pharmacology, she investigates synaptic vesicle transporters and ribosomal RNA structures . Scientific contributions include: Real-time simulation of α-synuclein membrane interactions (2020) Groundbreaking work on RNA pseudoknot folding (2017) Innovations in apolipoprotein modeling (2016-2020)
