Graeme Stuart is a Research Fellow at De Montfort University’s Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development, with a post-doctoral affiliation at Politecnico di Torino’s DENER department and Citynet fellow status. He holds a PhD in Energy and Sustainable Development (2011) from De Montfort University, an MSc in the same field, and a BSc (Hons) in Applied Environmental Science from the University of Portsmouth. Education: BSc (Hons) in Applied Environmental Science – University of Portsmouth MSc in Energy and Sustainable Development – De Montfort University PhD in Energy and Sustainable Development – De Montfort University His research focuses on empirical modeling of building energy performance using high-resolution time-series data to create benchmarks for individual buildings. He specializes in smart metering systems, energy feedback mechanisms, and behavioral change strategies across institutional, social, and individual contexts in public buildings across Europe. His work bridges technical data analysis with user engagement through energy coaching and interactive platforms. Recent publications analyze energy management in communities, agent-based modeling for informal settlements, and decentralized systems in public authorities. His 2025 studies explore data-driven student support and communication strategies in facilities management, while 2023-2015 works address behavioral effects in European cities, smart metering impacts, and organizational barriers to energy efficiency. He has consulted for British Gas on domestic energy disaggregation systems and collaborated with UK local authorities (Leicester City Council, Northamptonshire County Council) on smart meter deployment challenges. His contributions include developing accessible monitoring systems and frameworks for adaptive energy practices in heterogeneous infrastructure environments.
