Dr. Naomi Ellis is an Associate Professor of Health Research at Staffordshire University, affiliated with the Faculty of Health, Education, Policing and Sciences. She holds a PhD in qualitative research examining physical activity as mental health therapy, alongside MSc and BSc qualifications in Sport and Exercise Science with Psychology. Her academic roles include module leadership and teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs focusing on research methods, public health, and sport psychology. Her research expertise spans physical activity’s impact on mental health, green space health benefits, and health equity in mid-life populations. She employs interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) and has conducted studies in prisons, deprived urban communities, and NHS programs. Key projects include evaluating NHS Health Check communication, social marketing for mental health, and the role of nature in well-being during the pandemic. Publications highlight her focus on cardiovascular risk communication, suicide risk assessment practices, and women’s football health issues.
