Zygmunt KRAUZE

Zygmunt Krauze (born September 19, 1938, in Warsaw) is a Polish composer and pianist who has performed globally as a soloist and collaborated with renowned conductors such as Gary Bertini, Kazimierz Kord, and Antoni Wit. He studied piano and composition at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and continued in Paris under Nadia Boulanger. Since 2002, he has held a professorship and served as a Lecturer in Composition at the Academy of Music in Łódź and the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. His works have been performed at prestigious festivals and concert halls worldwide, including the Wiener Konzerthaus, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, and Suntory Hall in Tokyo.

Research and Creative Focus: Krauze specializes in contemporary classical music, with a career marked by composing five operas, instrumental concertos, and symphonic/chamber works. His compositions reflect modernist influences, and he has received commissions from institutions such as Polish Radio, French Radio, and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. His teaching and advisory roles span universities in Darmstadt, Basel, Tokyo, and the USA, including Indiana University, Yale University, and Southern California University.
