Zsofia Schmitz

Zsofia Schmitz is a Researcher at the Centre for Global Change and Sustainability at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU). She holds a Master of Science degree and is actively involved in climate change research and policy initiatives.

Her research focuses on the critical intersection between climate science and policy development. Ms. Schmitz specializes in strengthening the connections between scientific research and policy implementation, with particular emphasis on engaging younger generations of policy makers. Her work addresses how scientific findings can be effectively translated into evidence-based environmental governance.

Currently, she is a key staff member on the Austrian Assessment Report 2.0 (AAR2) project, a significant national research initiative that began in June 2022 and is scheduled to continue through July 2026. This project involves collaboration between the Institute of Meteorology and Climatology and the Centre for Global Change and Sustainability.

Ms. Schmitz has presented her research at academic conferences, including the 20th Austrian Climate Day in 2019 where she co-authored a presentation on strengthening the climate science-policy nexus for young policy makers. Her work contributes to BOKU's mission of addressing environmental challenges through scientific inquiry and knowledge transfer.
