Zoltan Harman

Dr. Zoltan Harman serves as a Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics in Heidelberg and holds the academic rank of Privatdozent (Lecturer) at Heidelberg University. His research focuses on precision theoretical frameworks for highly charged ions within and beyond the Standard Model of particle physics.

His academic qualifications include:

Harman's research integrates Atomic Physics and Nuclear Physics with advanced Quantum Electrodynamics calculations, specializing in high-precision theoretical models for highly charged ions. His work tests fundamental symmetries of the Standard Model while exploring physics beyond its current boundaries, particularly through quantum electrodynamics in extreme electromagnetic fields. Current projects examine ion spectroscopy for new physics signatures and relativistic quantum effects in strong-field regimes.

As Principal Investigator for project B02, he leads theoretical research at the intersection of atomic and particle physics. His group develops computational frameworks for precision ion spectroscopy while collaborating with experimental teams at GSI/FAIR. Harman also contributes to academic training as a lecturer for the International Max Planck Research School on Quantum Dynamics since 2009 and serves as a peer reviewer for major physics journals and funding bodies.
