Zoe Dawson is a Lecturer in Sports and Exercise Therapy at the School of Science, Technology and Health, York St John University. She holds an MSc in Strength and Conditioning from Leeds Beckett University (2019) and is a qualified Graduate Sports Therapist from the University of Gloucestershire. Her professional experience spans NHS musculoskeletal rehabilitation, private clinics, and team sports roles in rugby league/union.
Teaching focuses on the BSc Sports and Exercise Therapy programme, covering injury assessment, rehabilitation, and evidence-based practice across modules like Peripheral Joint Treatment, Vertebral Joint Management, and Contemporary Practice. She emphasizes person-centred care and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Research is concentrated through two groups: PAtCH (exploring osteoarthritis activity/sedentary behavior links to cardiovascular health via a PhD) and InSPIRe (biobanding's impact on female athlete development, injury risk, and performance). Current projects include co-producing osteoarthritis interventions with healthcare professionals and qualitative studies on sedentary behavior attitudes.
Publications span journals like Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research and Journal of Physical Activity and Health, addressing youth athlete performance metrics, osteoarthritis activity patterns, and tendon rupture outcomes. She actively bridges clinical practice with academic research to improve patient outcomes and athlete development strategies.
