Zlatica Plašienková

Professor Zlatica Plašienková is a distinguished faculty member at the Department of Philosophy and History of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, Comenius University in Bratislava. She has held the position of Professor since 2011, having previously served as Associate Professor (2005-2011) and Assistant Professor (1984-2005). Her academic journey began with studies in History of Philosophy at Saint Petersburg State University (1976-1981).

Professor Plašienková specializes in the intersection of evolutionary theory, cosmology, and ethics, with particular focus on the works of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin and Vladimir Vernadsky. Her scholarship explores how evolutionary processes inform our understanding of human nature, environmental ethics, and humanity's cosmic future.

Her recent publications demonstrate a clear trajectory toward examining paradigmatic shifts in understanding humanity's place in the cosmos, with increasing focus on transhumanism, bioethics, and environmental philosophy. Her work bridges traditional philosophical inquiry with contemporary scientific and ethical challenges, particularly examining the ethical implications of evolutionary theory and technological advancement on human identity and environmental responsibility.

Professor Plašienková has received numerous awards recognizing her scholarly contributions:

She leads and participates in significant research projects including "Naturalism and constructivism as competing or complementary programs" (2023-2027) as researcher, and "Paradigmatic changes in the view of the universe and man from philosophical, theological and physical perspectives" (2019-2023) as project leader. Professor Plašienková serves on multiple international editorial boards and maintains active collaborations with academic institutions across Europe.

As an educator, she teaches courses in Environmental Ethics, Philosophical Anthropology, and Fundamentals of Environmental Ethics. Her international academic presence includes research stays at Saint Petersburg State University, University of Silesia in Katowice, and participation in numerous international conferences and editorial boards across Europe.
