Ziyu Wang joined Utah State University as an Assistant Professor in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in 2024. Previously, he was an Associate Research Scholar (2022-2024) and Postdoctoral Research Associate (2020-2022) at Princeton University. Dr. Wang earned his PhD (2020) and MS (2016) in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University, and a BS in Thermal Engineering from North China Electric Power University (2014).
His research focuses on combustion and propulsion systems, clean fuels, and renewable energy conversion. Specialized in plasma-assisted ignition, low-temperature combustion kinetics, and high-pressure flame dynamics.
Publications demonstrate expertise in flame chemistry and alternative fuel combustion. Recent work investigates plasma-assisted ammonia combustion and cool flame behavior under pressure.
Awards include the Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award (2025) and International Symposium on Combustion Distinguished Paper (2023). Mentors graduate students Braxton Wiggins and Kumeesha De Silva. Teaches combustion courses and leads research on next-generation propulsion systems.
