Zitvogel Laurence

Professor Laurence Zitvogel is a leading figure in cancer immunology and immunotherapy, holding positions as Full Professor at Paris-Saclay University, Scientific Director of OncoImmunology at Gustave Roussy Cancer Center (GRCC), and Director of INSERM U1015 since 2002. She co-directs the Center of Clinical Investigations in Biotherapies of Cancer (GRCC-Curie) and leads a research team sponsored by the Ligue contre le Cancer since 2002. Her work bridges basic and clinical research, focusing on tumor immunology and immunotherapy.

• Expertise: Immunogenic cell death, microbiome-cancer interactions, exosome-based vaccines, and immune checkpoint blockers.
• Leadership: Directs Gustave Roussy's ImmunoOncology Research Department and the €10 million TORINO-LUMIERE RHU microbiome-cancer network.

Her research has demonstrated that chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and tyrosine kinase inhibitors exert tumoricidal activity partly via immune system activation. Recent work highlights the gut microbiota's role in modulating responses to immunotherapies like ipilimumab. She has published over 380 peer-reviewed articles and maintains an H-index of 98.
