Zihao Wang is a Research Fellow and Marie Curie Fellow in the Department of Materials. His research focuses on ensuring the reliability of structural materials in extreme environments, particularly investigating grain boundary strength and intermetallic hardening in Ni and Fe-based alloys. His current project employs advanced in-situ observation methods to study hydrogen's role in crack evolution in high-temperature water environments, aiming to reduce repair costs for power plant components and support decarbonization goals.
Zihao holds a PhD from Tohoku University, an MSc from the University of Science and Technology Beijing, and a BSc from Zhongyuan University of Technology. His work aligns with global energy strategies to achieve net-zero emissions through safer, low-cost energy solutions.
His research interests include corrosion mechanisms, hydrogen embrittlement, and the long-term performance of energy-related materials. He explores how environmental factors like hydrogen and high-pressure water impact material integrity, with applications in nuclear and industrial systems.
