Zia Rahman, MD is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Oncology and Hematology at Yale School of Medicine. He holds additional appointments in Internal Medicine and is affiliated with Yale Cancer Center, contributing to the institution's comprehensive cancer care and research initiatives.
Dr. Rahman earned his MD from Allama Iqbal Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan in 1982. His medical training continued with Internal Medicine in Lahore and at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, followed by dual specialization as both a Pathologist and Internist at the University of Connecticut Health Center and State University of New York in Long Island. He completed his Fellowship Training in Hematology and Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York before advancing his career at major academic medical centers.
Dr. Rahman's research spans multiple cancer specialties with emphasis on developing innovative treatment protocols. His clinical expertise encompasses breast cancer (particularly hormone receptor positive, HER2 negative), lung cancer (especially EGFR-mutant NSCLC), metastatic prostate cancer, liver cancers, and multiple myeloma. Prior to Yale, he served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he coordinated the Multidisciplinary Breast Clinic and worked in Breast Medical Oncology and Blood and Marrow Transplantation departments.
Currently, Dr. Rahman serves as Sub Investigator on multiple high-impact clinical trials exploring novel therapeutic approaches including targeted therapies, immunotherapies, and biomarker-driven treatment strategies across various cancer types. His work represents cutting-edge translational research bridging laboratory discoveries with clinical applications.
