معرفی
Dr. Zi-Wei Lin is a Professor in the Department of Physics at East Carolina University. He holds a PhD in Physics from Columbia University (1996). His research focuses on theoretical and computational physics, including relativistic heavy ion collisions, radiation physics, and medical physics applications like pseudo-CT generation for MRI-based radiotherapy. He developed the AMPT (Multi-Phase Transport) model to study high-energy nuclear collisions and QCD matter.
Research Interests:
- Theoretical heavy ion physics, particularly collective flow dynamics and QCD phase transitions
- Monte Carlo transport models for radiation and medical physics
- Space radiation protection and particle transport simulations
- Pseudo-CT image generation for MRI-only radiotherapy
Key Projects:
- AMPT model development for relativistic nuclear collisions
- Medical physics collaborations on radiation therapy techniques
- Space radiation studies using Geant4 simulations
Teaching:
- Advanced physics courses including Computational Physics, Quantum Field Theory, and Nuclear Medicine Physics
- Collaborative teaching in radiation biology through the RONC program
Research Group: Leads a team involving undergraduates, graduates, postdocs, and visiting scholars in nuclear theory, medical physics, and computational modeling.
