Dr. Zhou Chi is an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University at Buffalo (SUNY). He also holds an adjunct position as Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. His research focuses on additive manufacturing technologies, including 3D printing innovations, material science, and sustainable manufacturing solutions. He earned his PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Southern California (2011) and dual bachelor's degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (2004).
Professional experience includes roles at EnvisionTEC Inc. and Siemens PLM Inc., alongside academic roles since 2013 at UB. His work spans advanced materials development, process optimization, and applications in energy, biomedical, and environmental fields.
Research interests emphasize eco-friendly materials, inkjet printing process control, and functional surface fabrication. Recent studies explore carbon sequestration composites, graphene-biopolymer aerogels, and vibration-assisted 3D printing techniques. His publications address technical challenges in droplet dynamics, hydrogel mechanics, and manufacturing automation.
