Zhiting Tian is an Associate Professor and Eugene A. Leinroth Sesquicentennial Faculty Fellow at Cornell University's Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. She directs the ZT Research Group, specializing in computational and experimental energy transport. Previously an Assistant Professor at Virginia Tech (2014-2018), she holds a B.E. in Engineering Physics from Tsinghua University (2007), an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Binghamton University (2009), and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT (2014).
Her research explores micro/nanoscale heat transfer, thermal energy conversion/storage, quantum computing applications, and biomaterials. Key interests include thermal management in hybrid materials and renewable energy systems. Recent publications demonstrate advancements in perovskite thermal conductivity, polymer-based thermal diodes, and 3D covalent organic frameworks.
Her work has earned numerous accolades:

- NASA Early Stage Innovations Award (2021)
- NSF CAREER Award (2017)
- Presidential Early Career Award (2025)
She leads interdisciplinary collaborations at the Cornell NanoScale Facility and mentors graduate researchers in energy materials and computational modeling.
