Zhi Hong Lu

Zhi Hong Lu, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at Washington University School of Medicine. He joined the faculty in 2018, bringing expertise in adenoviral vector engineering and gene therapy applications for cancer treatment.

• Education: BS in Genetics and Biological Engineering from Fudan University (1990), PhD in Biochemistry from University of Mississippi Medical Center (1999)

His research focuses on adenoviral vector development, tumor-targeted gene delivery, and genome editing technologies, with applications in prostate cancer metastasis, immunotherapy, and vascular targeting. Recent work explores CRISPR-Cas9 delivery via viral capsid engineering and transcriptional targeting of tumor neovasculature.

Key publication trends (2003-2025) span adenovirus engineering, lymphocyte function studies, and multi-organ gene targeting. Current projects include molecular glue conjugates for precision gene delivery and probiotic-enhanced immunotherapy approaches.
