Zhe Shu

Dr. Zhe Shu is a PostDoc and Group Leader at the Department of Microsystems Engineering (IMTEK) at the University of Freiburg, affiliated with the Laboratory for MEMS Applications under Prof. Roland Zengerle. His work focuses on developing advanced printing technologies for microfluidic systems and 3D electronics. He holds a PhD in photonics and organic electronics and has expertise in inkjet printing of functional materials.

Education:

• Bachelor's in Optoelectronics, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (China)
• Master's in Photonics, Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena (Germany), funded by Abbe School of Photonics
• PhD in inkjet printing organic light sources, Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering (IOF)

Research Interests:

Dr. Shu specializes in additive manufacturing of functional materials, particularly molten metal printing (StarJet technology) for 3D electronics and lab-on-a-chip systems. His work bridges microfluidics, organic electronics, and embedded microsystems.

• Integration of micro-heaters, OLEDs, and micro-lenses into disposable lab-on-a-chip systems
