Zhaowei Liu

Zhaowei Liu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). He is affiliated with the Center for Memory and Recording Research and leads a research group focused on advanced optical technologies. His work emphasizes nanophotonics, metamaterials, and super-resolution imaging techniques.

Research interests include super-resolution imaging, biophotonics, plasmonics, nano-manufacturing, and nonlinear optical phenomena. Key projects involve developing metamaterial-assisted illumination nanoscopy (MAIN), deep learning-enhanced microscopy, and edge-detection metasurfaces.
