Zhang Longxi is a Professor (Chair) of Comparative Literature and Translation at City University of Hong Kong since 1998. Previously, he held professorial positions at the University of California, Riverside (1993–2000). He directs the Centre for Cross-Cultural Studies (2001–2006) and specializes in East-West literary comparisons, classical Chinese literature, and Renaissance English literature. His research integrates philosophical and religious dimensions with literary analysis.
A Foreign Member of the Royal Swedish Academy since 2009, he is affiliated with the Academy of Europe (Literary & Theatrical Studies Section). His academic leadership includes roles in cross-cultural research initiatives and editorial contributions to literary studies. His work bridges global literatures through interdisciplinary frameworks.
