Zengwang Xu is an Associate Professor of Geography at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), affiliated with the College of Letters & Science. His research integrates GIS, spatial statistics, and social science theories to study human population dynamics, including urban migration, neighborhood effects on health/crime, and disaster vulnerability. He teaches courses in GIS, cartography, and spatial analysis.

His recent work focuses on applying GIS to public health challenges, such as analyzing vaccination coverage disparities in Milwaukee County and modeling social contact networks during epidemics. Xu also develops longitudinal census data tools for historical demographic analysis.
