Prof. Dr. Zehra Gediz URAK is a full-time Professor at the Department of Interior Architecture, Faculty of Architecture, Çankaya University. She holds a PhD in Architecture from Gazi University and has extensive academic experience spanning over 40 years. Her research focuses on architectural conservation, traditional architecture analysis, and historical urban preservation.

Research Interests: Prof. URAK specializes in the conservation of historical structures, traditional architectural typologies, and sustainable restoration practices. She has contributed significantly to the understanding of Anatolian Seljuk and Ottoman architectural heritage, as well as urban regeneration strategies for historical cities like Ankara and Amasya.
Publications: Her work spans over 60 peer-reviewed articles and books, focusing on topics like the restoration of historical water systems (e.g., Istanbul’s Kırkçeşme), traditional housing typology in Mut and Egirdir, and site management of UNESCO World Heritage sites like Agrigento’s Valley of the Temples.
Awards: Recognized for her early career contribution to the Ankara Kalesi Urban Conservation Plan Competition (1987).
Advising & Grants: Supervised over 40 graduate students, many focusing on case studies across Turkey’s historical sites. Involved in projects like the Yalova Grand Hotel restoration and Sivrihisar Urban Conservation Plan.
Labs/Teams: Leads interdisciplinary research teams on heritage conservation, urban design, and sustainable restoration methodologies at Çankaya University.
