Zehra Bayir

Zehra Bayir is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Istanbul Technical University. Her research focuses on phthalocyanine-based materials, nanotechnology, and their applications in biomedical engineering, cancer therapy, and energy storage. She leads projects funded by BAP and TUBITAK, including studies on gold nanoparticles, graphene oxide composites, and anticancer agents.

Her work integrates synthetic chemistry, electrochemistry, and spectroscopy to explore novel materials for photodynamic therapy, supercapacitors, and sensors. Over 22 ongoing theses reflect her active mentorship in nanomaterials and phthalocyanine chemistry. Key themes include functionalized phthalocyanines, nanoconjugates, and their biological/physicochemical properties.

Recent projects include 'New Type of Phthalocyanine-Modified Gold Nanoparticles' (2024-2027) and 'Reduced Graphene Oxide/Metallic Phthalocyanine Composites' (2022-2025). Her publications span 1997–2025, with contributions to journals like Dalton Transactions and ChemistrySelect.
