Zarko Manojlovic

Zarko Manojlovic is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Translational Genomics and Director of the Keck Genomics Platform (KGP) at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California. He leads the development of a state-of-the-art next-generation sequencing facility focused on multi-disciplinary collaborative projects. His research integrates high-throughput genomics, functional biology, and informatics to address translational challenges in precision medicine, particularly in urothelial carcinomas and cancer heterogeneity.

Dr. Manojlovic earned his Ph.D. from Florida State University College of Medicine, studying fibro-proliferative mechanisms in liver fibrosis and ciliopathies. His postdoctoral work under Dr. John D. Carpten involved analyzing genomic data from diverse cancers, including melanoma, prostate cancer, and pediatric sarcomas. He has contributed to large-scale studies like the CoMMpaSS initiative for multiple myeloma.

His current research emphasizes urothelial tumors, tumor microenvironments, and ancestral effects on cancer progression. The Keck Genomics Platform, under his direction, provides advanced sequencing and computational resources to support USC researchers. Key interests include identifying clinically actionable genomic markers and addressing health disparities through precision medicine.

Dr. Manojlovic’s team focuses on dual training in functional bioinformatics and clinical biologics, fostering interdisciplinary approaches to cancer research. He actively collaborates on projects exploring tumor heterogeneity, molecular profiling of rare cancers, and translational applications of genomics.
