Zaman Mirzadeh, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Neurobiology in the Department of Translational Neuroscience at Arizona State University (ASU) and a neurosurgeon at Barrow Neurological Institute. He holds dual board certification in Neurological Surgery and specializes in functional neurosurgery, chronic pain management, and neuroablative techniques for cancer pain. His clinical expertise includes surgical management of facial pain, neuropathic pain, and spinal cord disorders.
Education & Training: Earned MD and PhD degrees from the University of California, San Francisco. Completed neurosurgery residency at Barrow Neurological Institute, followed by fellowships in functional neurosurgery (Toronto Western Hospital) and advanced pain management (Baylor College of Medicine/MD Anderson Cancer Center).
Research: Focuses on Type 2 diabetes mechanisms, central nervous system glucose regulation, and spinal cord pain modulation. His NIH-funded research explores brain rewiring in diabetes. Affiliated with the Ivy Brain Tumor Center.
