Zakiya Luna

Zakiya Luna serves as Assistant Professor of Sociology (and Feminist Studies by courtesy) at University of California, Santa Barbara.

Dr. Luna's research focuses on social movements, health and human rights with a strong emphasis on intersectionality. Her work examines how different forms of identity and social location intersect to shape experiences of power, resistance, and justice in contemporary society. As a scholar in sociology, she contributes to understanding the complex dynamics between social movements and human rights frameworks, particularly through the lens of intersectional analysis that considers how race, gender, class, and other identity markers interact.
