Dr. Zahra Stardust is a Lecturer in the School of Communication at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), within the Faculty of Creative Industries, Education & Social Justice. She holds a PhD from the University of New South Wales and advanced degrees in Gender and Cultural Studies, Law, and Modern History from the University of Sydney. Her research focuses on intersections of gender, sexuality, and technology, with particular emphasis on critical criminology, queer legal theory, and sex tech governance.

She co-authored submissions to Australian parliamentary committees addressing social media regulation and led projects on decriminalizing sex work. Her 2024 book Indie Porn: Revolution, Regulation and Resistance critiques corporate censorship in adult content industries.
