Zahra Ansarilari is a Lecturer in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering at ETH Zurich. She holds a PhD in Transportation Engineering from the University of Toronto and professional experience includes roles as Data Scientist at NeshanMaps and Transport Planner at AAVAND-e Tarh-o Andishe. Her research develops optimization models for public transit systems.
Key research areas include synchronized timetabling, transfer coordination, and capacity-aware scheduling for multimodal networks. Methodological approaches integrate mixed-integer programming, Lagrangian relaxation, and stochastic optimization to improve passenger experience and operational efficiency.
Recent publications focus on reducing transfer waiting times through novel optimization frameworks that account for vehicle capacities, dwell times, and network uncertainties. Applied work includes collaborations with transit agencies to implement scheduling improvements.
