Zaheer Khan is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of the West of England, Bristol, UK. He works within the Faculty of Environment and Technology and the Computer Science and Creative Technologies department.
His research focuses on intelligent & secure distributed systems, utilizing technologies like blockchain, IoTs, digital twin, and cloud/edge computing. He has contributed to projects in digital urban governance, smart cities, and environmental monitoring through initiatives like FP6 Health-e-Child, FP7 Urban API, and Horizon Europe GREENGAGE. Current research themes include:
- Digital governance and participatory sensing
- Software security & privacy frameworks
- Blockchain and intelligent systems integration
- Cloud/Edge Computing for urban resilience
Zaheer supervises PhD students and teaches undergraduate/postgraduate courses in programming, distributed computing, and software engineering. He actively participates in international conferences and journal review panels.
