Zafer OCAK is an Associate Professor at Kafkas University's Dede Korkut Faculty of Education in the Chemistry Education department. Previously, he worked at Karadeniz Technical University from 1994-2000.
- Education: Ph.D. in Chemistry (2003), MSc in Chemistry (1996), B.Sc. in Chemistry (1992) - all from Karadeniz Technical University.
His research focuses on electrochemistry, spectroscopy, and analytical chemistry, particularly in non-aqueous media acid-base studies and triazole derivative characterization. He has developed fluorimetric methods for metal ion detection and conducted extensive pKa determinations for heterocyclic compounds.
Dr. OCAK has co-authored 66 publications, including 15 recent works on solvent effects on acidity, triazole-based ion sensors, and antioxidant evaluations of novel compounds. His collaborative research with Haydar Yüksek (53 joint works) and other chemists spans 2002-2020, focusing on non-aqueous titration techniques.
- Advising: Supervised 11 Master's theses on chemistry education approaches.
- Projects: Led a 2018-2021 YÖK-funded project on benzimidazole ion sensors via fluorescence spectroscopy.
